Apostles Church of Sandy Springs is committed to bettering our community by reaching out to others, inviting them to know Jesus Christ, and growing together spiritually. Our growth groups perform many various service projects that impact the lives of people in several different communities, and our members are active in both local and global ministries, including:

The Community Action Center
Supported by a coalition of churches and synagogues, this organization assists people in need who lives in the 30350, 30338, 30327, 30342 and 30345 zip codes. They are always in need of food, non perishable items, personal hygiene products (no mouthwash), and gently used clothing.
Volunteers are needed to work in the Thrift Boutique and to do special projects.

7 Bridges to Recovery - Feeding the Homeless under the Bridges Downtown
Seven Bridges Ministries is saving lives on the front line. Join Pastor Seven as he distributes bag lunches, bottles of water and clean clothes/blankets, (donated by you) to the many homeless who live under highway bridges in downtown Atlanta.
Meet him on Saturdays at noon or M-W-F evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the K-Mart on Cleveland Ave. From there you will join other volunteers in groups to distribute food, clothes, love and prayers to "the lost, the last and the least".

*Lunches should be packed in large Ziplock bags in case of rain, they can also be reused. Lunches typically are PB&J sandwiches (protein), a can or cup of fruit, a bottle of water, a bag of chips and a cookie or small candy bar. Don't forget a napkin and spoon. Do not include anything that can spoil. Adults only. Saturdays usually finish around 3 p.m.

Product Rescue Center
Product Rescue Center is where items such as non-perishable food, paper goods, medicines and cleaning products are received, inspected, sorted and packed for distribution. It is a social atmosphere and perfect for families with children 8 and up. Shifts are:
Tuesday - 9 a.m. - 12 p.m., 6 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Wednesday and Thursday - 9 a.m. - 12 p.m., 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Saturday - 9 a.m. - 12 p.m., 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.
***Please call 1 to 2 weeks ahead to schedule.
They provide an orientation at the beginning of the shift and provide snacks and drinks during breaks.
Community Garden Initiative
Volunteers help do everything from planting, harvesting food, tilling soil, weeding, creating flower beds and other "green thumb" activities! Great fun with flexible 3 hour shifts are available Monday through Friday during daylight hours. Different areas of metro area.

Think of a lending library for tools and neighbors helping neighbors repair their houses. This is a small picture of the Atlanta Community Tool bank. http://www.toolbank.org
Two ways to serve
1. "House Proud" helps with home repairs around Turner Field for low income families. Contact Lisa Garcia at 404-880-0054 extension 13 for available dates.
2. "Tool Lending" helps sharpen, paint and maintain the tools and return them to the lending warehouse. Contact Wade Medlocak at 404-880-0054 extension 11 for available dates.
Benton McKay Trail
An alternative to the Appalachian Trail in northern Georgia and Tennessee needs help with trail maintenance to assure that future generations can enjoy the beauty of nature.
Volunteers will work on the Georgia portion of the fourth Saturday of every month and the Tennessee portion on the second Saturday of the month.
Plan on the whole day including driving time and sharing a meal together.

Foster Care Support Foundation
An all volunteer community resource dedicated to helping provide clothing, toys and equipment such as cribs, car seats, stroller, and high chairs to foster families and children in Georgia. They need help sorting, restocking, providing childcare while parents are shopping and assembly of toys and equipment.

This beautiful forest preserve tucked away off Roswell Road in Sandy Springs is an oasis in the middle of the city. They need volunteers to help with upkeep and routine maintenance.
The preserve is open from dawn to dusk and is a great place for families to serve. (On Roswell Road just south of the DMV building).

Ten Thousand Villages - Sandy Springs
They work with over 100 artisan groups in more than 30 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America to bring you fair trade jewelery, home decor, gifts and more. As one of the world's oldest and largest fair trade organizations, they enable artisans to earn a fair wage and provide the opportunity for a better quality of life.
They need volunteers in the store Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. to do 3-4 hour shifts. Volunteers will help with sorting merchandise, sharing artisan stories with customers, processing orders and assisting store management.
Must attend an orientation session prior to volunteering.
