Guidelines for Parents
Guidelines for Handling Parental Concerns
The guidelines as outlined below are to cover parental concerns regarding welfare of the children or specific concerns of the school program. Personnel concerns such as hiring, terminations, and salaries are to be handled by the Director and School Board. Personnel concerns as outlined will not be discussed in the presence of parents.

1.  Parents with a concern regarding the welfare of the children or program of the school may verbally discuss the problem with the Director.

2.  In the event that they parents and Director do not reach an agreeable solution, or the director does not follow through with satisfactory action on the agreement reached within ten working days, the parent may outline the grievance, in writing, the director with copies to the School Board President.

3.  In the event that an agreeable solution is not reached by the director and the School Board President, the parent may formally present the grievance in writing to the full board for resolution of the problem.
The solution by the full board will be considered as final with no further action by the Board of Directors.

Guidelines for Birthday/Holiday Celebrations

1.  In order to prevent possible choking hazards, the school does not allow balloons, hard candy, lollipops, or sticky chewable items such as gummy bears.  Items containing peanut butter or any nuts are not permitted as some children are allergic to these foods.

2.  Please consider healthy alternatives such as fruit, vegetables with dip, crackers and cheese, chicken nuggets, Rice Crispy treats, cookies or brownies instead of cupcakes/cakes with lots of frosting [cakes/cupcakes with minimal frosting are okay] and other sugary items that can lead to childhood obesity.  These same rules apply for class holiday parties.
3.  Lit candles are not allowed as they are a safety hazard as well as the possibility of setting off the fire/sprinkler system.
4.  If you are providing goody bags, please make sure that the contents are age/developmentally appropriate.  Remember, if the item fits through a toilet paper tube, then it can be swallowed by a child.
5.  If you are inviting school friends to your child’s birthday party that will be held in a place other than in the class, you are welcome to get a class list from the office or teachers.  However, if the invitations are to be distributed via cubby, ALL children in the class are to be invited.
6.  A tax deductible donation to the scholarship fund in honor of the child’s birthday in lieu of a gift is an option to consider.  Check with the office if you need more information.
